He was probably hoping that it would land him the Barca job, when that went it was probably a bollox moment, he needed a bigger club so off to Everton he goes. Has another 7th place finish, all good and on track for taking over at Barca in a season or two; then, oh shit, 18th, the sack, bye bye ever managing Barca.

I'm talking about what Koeman has done this season. Surely you should be looking at that, over what he's done in previous seasons?

If you're going to bomb out a manager, then I wouldn't look at replacing him with a manager who's had pretty much exactly the same problems recently and couldn't solve them.

Everton sign shit load of players noone has heard of and one for double what he's worth - "be like Everton"

Don't recall him having too many problems at Southampton on his way to a couple of top 6 or 7 finishes and qualifying for Europe.

Wasn't he also in the running for Manager of the Year or he picked up a few Manager of the Months or something too?

But they were showing ambition then, far more than our lying cunt owners have shown.

Just because it didn't work out for Koeman doesn't mean they didn't set out with best intentions you moron.

Re: Koeman gone
Just reading a couple of articles from ex-Everton players regarding Koeman's sacking, and it appears to be a number of problems they had there:

Didn't seem to know how to improve players
Didn't seem to know how to lift his players
Struggled with his mannerisms
No understanding in the team regarding tactitcs
Players look confused
Can't figure out a style of play
Doesn't know his best team
Plays players out of position
His team looks like a group of players as opposed to a team
No real continuity with the two centre-halves

You could argue that's what's happened to Bilic this season. I'm surprised so many would go for him based on that.

Re: Koeman gone
Given the money spent obviously the expectations have shot up .... and as Leicester have shown when that happens the manager suddenly is under more immediate pressure

Obviously their results have been shit particularly in the Europa and the momentum builds
Probably doesn't help that he isn't the WARMEST PERSONALITY with the press and he didn't pander to the Scouse ego.

Add Bolasie and Barkley to that team, play Rooney as an out and out striker until you can buy one of note and long term they would be fine.

Re: Koeman gone
And what happened to Ranieri just typifies the game these days.........i still cannot believe Leicester owners did that!

Then we had Palace and another Dutchman, 5 games in, 5 fucking games, i really hope they go down............

Re: Koeman gone
Seeing Koeman interviewed the last few weeks and he just looked shot to pieces, it wasn't difficult to see this coming after all the hype they seemed to get in the summer after there recruitment drive.

And plenty on WHO pointing to them and saying why arent we doing an Everton, they were showing ambition etc etc...........LOL

How Fickle the game, from the owners to the supporters has become in such a short time.

Re: Koeman gone
You can pick it apart, but being in the bottom 3 is shocking, and their Europa league campaign has been a disaster. They didn't seem to have any system or style of play in place either, much like us. Lukaku obviously a big miss.

Re: Koeman gone
9 games in which he has lost to Man U , Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs while drawing with Man City.
I think he would have realised that he needs to get the young players he brought in last season back in, stop trying to shoehorn number 10’s in and drop a couple of players.
He bought a couple of young English players in Pickford & Keane( a good move, no?) and they need time to settle in.

He isn’t suddenly a terrible manager

Re: Koeman gone
The thing with this was it did not look like Koeman was going to turn it around, it was just going from bad to worse.

I'd imaging he will take a break, lick his wounds and do a lot of soul searching as to why this went so badly wrong. Any club employing Koeman will be taking a risk imo as you don't know how this has effected him. He will be under big pressure personally to do well at his next job particularly if it's in the PL as two poor gigs on the spin means your reputation is in tatters, like we have seen with Moyes.

Re: Koeman gone
If you looked up the dictionary for the definition of 'fickle', it'd have a picture of a football fan. It reminds me of Leicester fans turning on Ranieri, after he'd given them a once in a century league title.

Every manager goes through slumps. If it last longer than a season, then there might be a problem. But a handful of games?

Re: Koeman gone
100

Made a bit of a balls up at Everton after his previous success,s, only a couple of months ago people talked that he may be in line for Barcelona in the next year or 2 and Everton fans were issuing a hands off....

Would imagine he will want to take some time out, rather than jump straight back into the fire as it were.

He will be back and will have no shortage of offers i bet, just highlights how fickle the game is these days, flavour of the month one minute, useless the next!

As I said at the time his signings where poor esp Pickford and Keane .not surprised he's gone and not surprised there in the bottom3

Massive opportunity to get a quality manger in without paying any compo. Would crazy for him not to be first choice to replace Bilic.

Re: Koeman gone
i cant prove it but I'm sure he had players forced on him at Everton that didn't fit his plans, the Granny Shagger being the main one. id take him over Bilic, and hope he can get some of our very good u23 team involved in the first team squad

East Auckland Hammer 1:35 Tue Oct 24
Re: Koeman gone
Surely we should be looking at what Koeman from Southampton achieved and not what Koeman from the first couple of months of 17/18 season has done?

THAT is the Koeman we should be bringing in as a manager.

And THAT is probably the Koeman we would get as a manager given where we currently sit in the big picture of the Premier League.

Vexed 1:10 Tue Oct 24
Re: Koeman gone
Better than Bilic, tactically decent, buys decent players, bloods youngsters, basically everything the pond life on here have been moaning about for two seasons - but no we don't want him! Classic WHO.
